Unit A Exhibition 2025
We’ve wrapped up another exciting year of our undergraduate design unit at Oxford Brookes University, where students explored the intersection of urban design, community action, and innovation.
This year’s live client was WeCanMake, a Bristol-based housing initiative, which gave students the opportunity to engage with real-world challenges. Highlights of the unit included:
GIS mapping of infill plots in South Bristol, identifying potential for over 10,992 new homes—now part of a government-submitted report
CNC-cut social infrastructure furniture with Better Block, with selected designs to feature in their open-source Wiki-library
Designing community spaces on WeCanMake's active infill sites
Proposals for a 50-home, community-led scheme on a Bristol City Council-owned site
A huge thank you to WeCanMake, Better Block, and our brilliant guest contributors including Studio Bark, Agile Properties, Goram Homes, RUSS, and Karakusevic Carson Architects.
Congratulations to all our Year 2 and Year 3 students for their incredible work. Special thanks to teaching partners Rut Cuenca and Ruby Sleigh.
Huge congratulations to our talented students!
